About Praia Da Luz (Luz West)...

Situated at the western and generally quieter end of the Algarve, Praia da Luz is very popular with families, as the resort has everything you could possibly need, and all in a very attractive setting.

As well as a wide choice of places to eat, with many restaurants, cafes and bars just behind the wide sandy beach, Luz also boasts a beautiful promenade to stroll along.  There are various market stalls and artists displaying their work, which is great if you want to take a break from the beach.  Surprisingly, there are also some ruins of Roman baths from 3rd to 5th century A.D just behind the wall that runs along the promenade. There is a door in the wall, which is open from 10am to 5pm every day.

For spectacular views of the town and the western Algarve coastline, work your way up to the top of the 'Black Rock'. There is a mysterious triangle that only be seen from the highest point, which leaves visitors guessing as to how it got there and why it can't be found from the ground!  Because of the obvious dangers, this is not an advisable activity for young children, but it is well worth negotiating the narrow pathway up for the views alone.
